Paper Description

This paper extends knowledge to consolidate fundamental health assessment skills. Nurses are required to assess and identify health priorities using a range of assessment frameworks and information from diagnostic tests, and plan therapeutic interventions based on sound evidence-based decision-making processes. A comprehensive approach to health assessment integrates physical, social, cultural and psychological dimensions. Student will relate the information from the health consumer, family/whānau/aiga assessment to understand alterations in psycho-social and physiological functioning, common health problems, psychological, cultural and social health needs and the impact of the determinants of health.
